How will we celebrate the 300th year?

There are eight committees working diligently to put together a fitting celebration in honor of the 300th anniversary of the establishment of Christ Church. Much of the work of these committees is done in close collaboration with one another.

Approximately twenty-five Christ Church parishioners make up these committees, and many work on multiple ones. Without them, there's no celebration.

Our Committees

Liturgy, Worship & Music

To work with other Committees and clergy to create joyous services that give thanks for our 300 years as a religious community in Maryland. They do so by using historic and modern liturgy and music as the foundation of our worship and incorporating the participation of Church leaders in services.

Liturgy & Worship

Events Committee

To help plan a year-long celebration consisting of many events, including events planned with the other committees. This will include worship services, speakers, receptions, and fundraisers, among others.

Events

Communications Committee

To work with the other 300th Anniversary Committees to identify ways to publicize ongoing work by the other committees and activities planned for the celebrations.

Communications

Fundraising Committee

To work with the 300th Anniversary committees to determine the budget needed through 2028 to fund the activities proposed by each committee, to identify realistic ways by which desired activities would be funded (outside of the parish operating budget), and to make financial recommendations to the 300th Anniversary Steering Committee.

Fundraising

Race & Slavery / History

Sub-divided into three teams and committed to uncovering new written, documentary, and artifact-based historical
information to build upon. It includes updating the 1986 written history and sharing the 300-year legacy of Christ
Church with the congregation and public. A core part of their work is to examine and document the role of race throughout the church’s history—from its founding roots involving the enslavement of Black people to the vibrant racial diversity present in our community today. They honor and celebrate all of our history and provide guidance to Christ Church members for the future.

& Endowments

To conceive, research and cost ideas for one or more significant and enduring legacy gifts commemorating the first 300 years of our parish and as gifts of ourselves to the parishioners who follow us here in this place.
