There are eight committees working diligently to put together a fitting celebration in honor of the 300th anniversary of the establishment of Christ Church. Much of the work of these committees is done in close collaboration with one another.

Approximately twenty-five Christ Church
parishioners make up these committees, and many of them work on
multiple committees.

Liturgy & Worship

To work with other Committees and with the Rector to create joyous services to give Thanksgiving for our 300 years as a religious community in Maryland. We will rely on historic and modern liturgy to design the services. We will seek the participation of Church leaders in our services.

Liturgy & Worship

Events Committee

To help plan a year-long celebration consisting of many events, including events planned with the other committees. This will include worship services, speakers, receptions, and fundraisers, among others.

Events

Communications Committee

To work with the other 300th Anniversary Committees to identify ways to publicize ongoing work by the other committees and activities planned for the celebrations.

Communications

Fundraising Committee

To work with the 300th Anniversary committees to determine the budget needed through 2028 to fund the activities proposed by each committee, to identify realistic ways by which desired activities would be funded (outside of the parish operating budget), and to make financial recommendations to the 300th Anniversary Steering Committee.

Fundraising

History Committee

To uncover new written, documentary, and artifact historical information to be added to that which already exists, to update the 1986 written history for what has occurred in the years since, to better preserve and make available to the congregation and the general public the 300 years of history that Christ Church represents.

History

Race & Slavery Committee

To examine, address, and enter into CEC’s historical records the role that race has played during the 300 years of Christ Church’s history, from our origins with the enslavement of Black people to our incredible racial diversity of today.

Race & Slavery

Legacy Projects
& Endowments

To conceive, research and cost ideas for one or more significant and enduring legacy gifts commemorating the first 300 years of our parish and as gifts of ourselves to the parishioners who follow us here in this place.

Legacy Projects

Music Committee

To work with the other committees to provide music to the events planned. We're exploring other ways to celebrate 300 years of worship here at Christ Church!
