Sunday School

Sunday School meets each week mid-September through early June from 9:30 am- 10:15 am and is for children of all ages from PreK – High School. Here are some of the highlights of our program:

  • The Sunday School Committee hosts an annual Open House for parents to meet the teachers, view the curriculum, and register their children at the beginning of each year.
  • The Sunday School Teachers participate in three teacher trainings throughout the year to look at curriculum, plan with cohorts, and look at best practices. These trainings are prepared and presented by a member of our congregation who is an experienced and dedicated teacher with the public school system.
  • Each child new to Sunday School or moving to a new level receives an age appropriate Bible. New students also receive tote bags to carry their Bibles and materials to class each week.
  • Story Sundays occur on the last Sunday of each month during the Sunday School time slot.  On Story Sundays. the Middle School/High School group share Bible stories with the elementary age students.
  • A monthly calendar goes home at the beginning of each month. The calendar contains discussion questions, Bible readings, and activities that students can do with their families at home. Each month has a theme and offers children a chance to continue Christian education at home.

The Sunday School classes are broken into three levels with many wonderful teachers with each group: Pre-K – 1st grade, 2nd Grade-5th Grade, and Middle School/High School

The curriculum currently being used is Living the Good News, a lectionary-based curriculum. To view the curriculum, visit the Living the Good News website.

Here is an overview of the curriculum and a few documents discussing ways to help your child with their faith development at home.

Please contact our Sunday School team if you have questions about our program or wish to volunteer to be a teacher for our youth.
