Please join us for services on Ash Wednesday:

12:00noon in Old Brick – Imposition of Ashes with Holy Eucharist
7:30pm in New Brick – Bishop Eugene Sutton leads us in a Holy Eucharist Service with the Imposition of Ashes.
Ash Wednesday comes from a Biblical tradition in which people marked themselves with ashes as a sign of penitence. In the Old Testament, Job repents “in dust and ashes,” and there are other associations of ashes and repentance in Esther (4:1-3), 1 Samuel (2:8), 2 Samuel (13:19), Isaiah (58:5, 61:3) and Jeremiah (6:22, 25:34). The 10th century monk Aelfric linked the practice to the period before Easter, writing, “Now let us do this little at the beginning of our Lent that we strew ashes upon our heads to signify that we ought to repent of our sins during the Lenten fast.”
Lenten Reflection Day : Saturday, March 4th
Lenten Reflection Day takes place in Old Brick with Rev. Earl Mullins, who will lead us in prayer as we examine “Perfect Love Casts Out Fear”. A light breakfast will be served at 8:30am with the program will follow, concluding with an informal Eucharist. You are welcome to join us for any or all of the morning program, so please do.
