It was Friday afternoon and the big brunt of blizzard Jonas had not hit yet. Snow was about an inch when I heard a knock at my door. I opened it to greet one of my little neighbors. She and other little neighbors were offering to shovel my driveway and walk for a dollar. I said yes, and they set to work excitedly. When they were done, in addition to the dollar, I gave candy canes for each of them. They were so sweet to help and very enterprising as well! I was very glad to wake up Sunday morning to bright sunshine. Very much snowbound, I read my scriptures and the Morning Prayer at 10:00 am, feeling a connection with my parish family. I read Paul’s epistle to the Corinthians (1 Corinthians 12:12-31a), that we are all members of the body of Christ, each of us with our own functions, gifts, and tasks. I finished my readings and went to the window to see if the snowplow had come. No plow yet, however I did see the parents of my little neighbors, with their older daughter and another neighbor, clearing my driveway and walk! Family members will be coming over as soon as travel allows. I feel so very blessed to be living in this community, “this body”, with so many wonderful members or “parts”, where “Love God, Love One Another” is seen and heard and felt!
