From the Warden: April 2010

Are you ready to lend a hand?

As we enter the Easter season, the themes of rebirth, renewal, repentance, and regeneration surround us. Our intention to walk in God’s light seems easier with the beauty and new life of spring. We are given so many opportunities to be ambassadors of Christ in our church and in our community. I feel so blessed to worship and work for God’s kingdom alongside so many grace-filled members of our congregation.

I am so awed by the ministries of DreamBuilders, in combating homelessness through their hands-on construction projects. I’m impressed by our Youth Group, in their 30-hour Famine, understanding the pain of world hunger. Our Women’s Group continues to ease the loneliness of homeless children through the ministries of The Ark and loneliness of the mentally disabled at Springfield Hospital visitations. Equally inspiring are our Lay Eucharistic visitors, bringing spiritual nourishment of communion to the ill or disabled members of our parish. Our Christian Education leaders are devoted in leading toddlers in Godly Play and older children in Sunday School.

Our Outreach Commission ministers to our local community with meals for the ho9meless and internationally with our hope for an education in providing books and library support to Ugandan orphans. Christ Church Link provides social service referrals for housing, utilities, and medication and provides a listening ear for desperate people. We also have a rich In-reach ministry for meals, calls, and rides for the elderly or new mothers. Our Choir and Altar Guild bring joy and beauty to our worship. Our Spiritual Life group brings encouragement to our members seeking a deeper and richer walk with Christ. Our Parish Life group organizes our social gatherings, focusing on friendships and celebrations. We are a vibrant community.

We are truly grateful for the leadership provided by our Rector. He supports, consoles, instructs and motivates us in our Christian journey.

We will endeavor to serve out parish by providing a functional worship space, staffing, guidance, and financial support for our diverse programs of worship, education, and service. May we press on with confidence.

From the Rector: April 2010

Did not our heart burn within us while he talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the Scripture?

Join us for Holy Week and Easter Services.

The question was asked by a disciple traveling the road to Emmaus with another disciple, and they were encountered by the Risen Lord. Yet they did not know it! They walked and talked and listened, and only later that evening, as they broke bread together, were their eyes opened and they recognized that their Lord eas with them all along.

The Three Sacred Days (Triduum Sacrum) of Maundy Thursday, Good Friday and Holy Saturday lead us to the glory of the Resurrection and the hoy of the Easter Proclamation – Alleluia! Christ is Risen – The Lord is Risen Indeed, Alleluia!

And even if you have been gone from Christ Church; no matter what your circumstances – come and join us as we walk the road, listening to the Scriptures, having our eyes opened and our hearts burning with the knowledge that our Lord is Risen and walking with us. The schedule for Holy Week and Easter is here.

Please stay with us: for there is much to learn and many to love.
